AI Credits

AI Credits are the currency used to power AI features in Clear Ideas. Every monthly subscription includes a base allocation of AI Credits, and you can purchase additional credits as needed.

How AI Credits Are Used

AI Credits in the Clear Ideas App play a crucial role in managing the consumption of Foundational AI Models. These credits are depleted whenever a request is made to interact with a foundational model, serving as a measurement of usage.

Factors Affecting Credit Consumption

The consumption of AI Credits is influenced by several factors, including:

  • Number of Tokens: Credits are used based on the number of tokens involved in the request, response, and any additional context provided. Tokens are essentially chunks of text that the AI processes, and their count influences credit usage.
  • Selected Foundational Model: Different foundational models have varying credit costs per token. More advanced models typically consume more credits but provide better results.
  • Context Size: The amount of content included in AI queries affects token count and credit consumption.
  • Response Length: Longer AI responses consume more credits than shorter ones.

Credit Usage Examples

  • AI Chat: Each message exchange consumes credits based on tokens
  • AI Summaries: Document summaries consume credits based on document size and model used
  • AI Workflows: Multi-step workflows consume credits for each step
  • Enhanced Search: AI-powered search features consume credits when used

Viewing Your Credit Balance

To check your available credits:

  1. Navigate to Settings > AI Credits
  2. View your current credit balance displayed prominently
  3. The balance updates in real-time as you use AI features

Available Credits: Your current credit balance is shown on the AI Credits settings page. This reflects your monthly allocation plus any purchased credits, minus credits used.

Monthly Allocation

All accounts, including those on the free plan, come with a monthly allotment of AI Credits. This allocation:

  • Resets Monthly: Credits reset at the start of each billing cycle
  • Plan-Based: Allocation amount depends on your subscription plan
  • Free Plan: Includes a smaller allocation to try AI features
  • Paid Plans: Include larger allocations based on plan tier

This allocation allows users to interact with the foundational models according to their needs, resetting at the start of each month to ensure continued access.

Purchasing Additional Credits

Users who require more interaction than their monthly allocation allows can purchase additional AI Credits.

Credit Purchase Details

Pricing: Credits are purchased at a rate of US$10.00 per 1 Million Credits

Purchase Limits:

  • Minimum Purchase: $10 (1 Million Credits)
  • Maximum Purchase: $100 (10 Million Credits) per transaction

Currency: All AI Credit purchases are in USD

Payment Method: Credits are purchased using your configured payment method (see Payment Methods)

How to Purchase Credits

  1. Navigate to Settings > AI Credits
  2. Review your current credit balance
  3. Click Add To Credit Balance
  4. Select the amount to purchase ($10-$100)
  5. Complete the checkout process
  6. Credits are added to your account immediately

Note: Credit purchases require an authenticated account. Demo/unauthenticated accounts cannot purchase credits.

Credit Management Tips

Monitor Usage: Regularly check your credit balance to understand consumption patterns. See AI Usage for detailed usage analytics.

Plan Purchases: Purchase credits proactively based on your usage patterns to avoid interruptions.

Model Selection: Choose models that balance capability and cost. More expensive models provide better results but consume credits faster.

Optimize Queries: Efficient queries with focused context consume fewer credits than broad, unfocused queries.

Auto-Recharge: Consider setting up auto-recharge (see Payment Methods) to automatically purchase credits when your balance is low.

Low Credit Alerts

When your credit balance is low:

  • In-App Alerts: You'll see alerts in AI Chat and other AI features
  • Upgrade Prompts: Guidance is provided for purchasing additional credits
  • Usage Monitoring: Track your usage to plan credit purchases
