Time Zone Settings

Configure your time zone to ensure times are displayed correctly throughout Clear Ideas and notifications are sent at appropriate times for your location. Access time zone settings through Settings > Time Zone.

Setting Your Time Zone

To update your time zone:

  1. Navigate to Settings > Time Zone
  2. Use the time zone picker to select your time zone
  3. Click Update Time Zone to save your changes

Time Zone Picker: The time zone selector includes all major time zones worldwide. Search or browse to find your location.

Your time zone setting takes effect immediately and affects all time-related features in the application.

Impact on Notifications

Your time zone setting directly affects when you receive notifications:

Notification Timing

Scheduled Notifications: When you configure notification schedules (daily, weekly, monthly), the times you specify are interpreted in your local time zone.

Example: If you set daily notifications for 9:00 AM, you'll receive them at 9:00 AM in your configured time zone, not UTC or another time zone.

Notification Frequency Windows

For immediate or hourly notifications with time windows:

  • Start Time: Interpreted in your local time zone
  • End Time: Interpreted in your local time zone
  • Days: The days you select apply to your local calendar

This ensures notifications arrive during your working hours, regardless of where you're located.

Time Display Throughout the Application

Your time zone setting affects how times are displayed in various contexts:

File Timestamps

Upload Times: File upload and modification times are displayed in your local time zone.

Activity Logs

Activity History: All activity timestamps are converted to your local time zone for easy reading.

Site Statistics

Analytics: Time-based analytics and reports use your local time zone for date ranges and time periods.

Scheduled Operations

Web Import Schedules: Scheduled web imports and other automated operations use your time zone for scheduling.

Best Practices for Global Teams

When working with team members across different time zones:

Individual Configuration

Each User Sets Their Own: Every team member should configure their own time zone setting. This ensures each person sees times in their local context and receives notifications at appropriate times.

Coordination

Be Aware of Differences: When scheduling site activities or expecting responses, consider time zone differences between team members.

Use UTC for Coordination: For critical deadlines or meetings, consider specifying times in UTC or explicitly stating time zones to avoid confusion.

Notification Management

Respect Quiet Hours: Configure notification schedules that respect your local working hours, even when collaborating with global teams.

Time Window Configuration: For immediate notifications, set time windows that align with your local business hours.

Automatic Detection

Clear Ideas may attempt to detect your time zone based on:

  • Your browser settings
  • Your IP address location
  • Your organization's default time zone (if applicable)

However, you should verify and manually set your time zone to ensure accuracy.

Daylight Saving Time

Time zones automatically account for daylight saving time (DST) changes. When DST begins or ends in your region, Clear Ideas will automatically adjust displayed times accordingly.
