# Site Branding

Customize a site's visual identity with an icon and logo, shown in navigation and share contexts. Site branding helps create a professional, recognizable appearance for your collaboration spaces and makes it easier for team members to identify sites at a glance.

## Upload Branding

Configure site branding from **Site Settings > Branding** (or **Site Settings > Icons**):

1. Navigate to **Site Settings > Branding**
2. Upload your site icon and/or logo
3. Images are saved automatically when uploaded

## Site Icon

**Icon**: Visual identifier for your site

### Icon Specifications

**Recommended Size**: 180×180 pixels

**Aspect Ratio**: Square (1:1) for best results

**Usage**: Icons appear in:
- Site lists and tiles
- Navigation menus
- Site selection interfaces
- Share contexts
- Mobile views

### Uploading an Icon

1. Navigate to **Site Settings > Branding**
2. Locate the **Icon** section
3. Click the icon upload area or drag and drop an image
4. Select an image file from your computer
5. The icon is uploaded and saved automatically

**Supported Formats**: webp, png, jpg, gif, svg

**File Size**: Keep icon files reasonably sized for fast loading (recommended: under 500KB)

### Icon Best Practices

**Clear and Simple**: Use simple, recognizable designs that work well at small sizes.

**High Contrast**: Ensure good contrast for visibility in different contexts.

**Brand Consistency**: Use consistent icon styles across your organization's sites.

**File Format**: SVG is recommended for scalability, but PNG works well for complex designs.

**Professional Design**: Use high-quality, professional logos that represent your brand.

**Readable**: Ensure text in logos is readable at display sizes.

## Supported Image Formats

Clear Ideas supports the following image formats for site branding:

- **WebP**: Modern format with excellent compression (recommended)
- **PNG**: Lossless format with transparency support
- **JPG/JPEG**: Standard format for photographs
- **GIF**: Animated or static images
- **SVG**: Vector format for scalable graphics (recommended for icons)

### Format Recommendations

**Icons**: SVG or PNG with transparency
**Logos**: SVG, PNG, or WebP with transparency
**Photographs**: WebP or JPG

## Upload Process

### Drag and Drop

1. Open **Site Settings > Branding**
2. Drag an image file from your computer
3. Drop it onto the icon or logo upload area
4. The image uploads automatically

### Click to Upload

1. Open **Site Settings > Branding**
2. Click the icon or logo upload area
3. Select an image file from the file picker
4. The image uploads automatically

## Managing Branding

### Replacing Images

To replace an existing icon or logo:

1. Navigate to **Site Settings > Branding**
2. Upload a new image to replace the existing one
3. The new image replaces the old one automatically

### Removing Images

To remove an icon or logo:

1. Navigate to **Site Settings > Branding**
2. Use the remove/delete option (if available)
3. The image is removed from the site

**Note**: Removing branding images reverts to default site appearance.

### Where Branding Appears

**Site Lists**: Icons appear in site lists and tiles for quick identification

**Navigation**: Icons appear in navigation menus and breadcrumbs

**Share Links**: Logos appear when sharing sites with external users

**Public Views**: Branding appears on public-facing site pages

**Mobile Views**: Icons are optimized for mobile display

## Limitations

### File Size Limits

**Maximum Size**: There may be file size limits for uploads (check current limits)

**Optimization**: Large files may need optimization before upload

### Format Restrictions

**Supported Only**: Only the listed formats (webp, png, jpg, gif, svg) are supported

**Unsupported Formats**: Other image formats cannot be uploaded

### Display Constraints

**Size Constraints**: Images may be resized or cropped to fit display contexts
