# Creating a Site with a Template

Templates help you start a governed workspace quickly with a structure that already matches a common use case. They are useful when you want to launch with a practical system-of-record layout instead of designing every folder from scratch.

## Why Use a Template

Templates help teams:

- start with a proven folder structure
- create more consistent governed workspaces
- move faster on common external collaboration use cases
- standardize how approved documents are organized across teams

Templates are especially useful for diligence rooms, client portals, board materials, transaction work, and other repeatable document-heavy workflows.

## Create a Site From a Template

1. Open **Templates** from the Clear Ideas navigation.
2. Review the available template structures.
3. Choose the template that best fits your use case.
4. Create the Site and provide a clear Site name.
5. Upload approved documents into the prebuilt folder structure.
6. Adjust Site settings, branding, sharing, and permissions as needed.
7. Refine the structure if your workflow needs small changes.

## What to Do Next

After creating the Site, common next steps are:

- invite the right internal and external users
- upload approved documents
- configure Site settings and branding
- enable analytics or AI features where appropriate
