# Prompt Templates

Guide model outputs by selecting an existing markdown document as an output template for AI Chat. Templates help standardize deliverables like memos, checklists, or reports.

## Using a Template in Chat

- Click the template icon in the chat header.
- Search across your sites for a suitable markdown file (e.g., a checklist or reporting format).
- Select it to attach as the current Output Template. The response will follow its structure.
- Remove the template at any time to return to free‑form responses.

Templates do not change your original file. Saved chat responses can be exported as new files; see [AI Chat](/ai/ai-chat).
